About Families upon Thames
Families upon Thames has been read by local parents and carers since 1997. Our aim is to pack each issue full of information about events, activities and services available to families in the area. Not just listings, we hope to give readers plenty of ideas for great days out plus a range of features about everything which may be preoccupying you from choosing your child's next school, to natural remedies for hayfever to where to find help with a family problem. Most of all we love to be led by our readers and publish their experiences whether it's about starting a business, getting an allotment or finding a good nursery.
About Frances Loates
Pre-children Families upon Thames editor Frances Loates worked as an assistant editor on academic journals. After that she was a freelance writer and had a stint for a public relations company. In 2001 she was given her dream opportunity to relaunch an ailing Families upon Thames magazine and the rest, as they say, is history. Read her blog here.
Meet our extended family
